Attempted to enter house with weapon, fled after being chased by people, firing shots
Two young men tried to break into a house with weapons in Chittagong city. The people around them noticed them and chased them. They then fled while firing.
The incident took place at around 1:30 pm on Wednesday in a building called ‘Jasimer Building’ in the North Muslimabad Saikat residential area of Patenga police station area of the city. Police and locals said that around noon today, two young men tried to break into a house in the Saikat residential area with weapons. No one was in the house at the time. When people from the neighboring house started shouting, “Robbers, robbers,” the two young men ran away while firing. However, no one was injured. People did not come forward to catch them out of fear. Patenga police station officer-in-charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam told Prothom Alo that a garment worker couple lives in the house. Attempted to enter house They have gone to their village home in Raozan. There is nothing else in the house except a bed and a wardrobe.
The OC also said that an investigation is underway to determine whether people tried to enter the house to rob it or for some other reason. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the armed youths. If the people of the house come to the police station and file a complaint, they will be taken.
